Stacking The Shelves #11: The I Went Overboard Edition

"Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual." It's a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

So as you can guess from the title I went on a little shopping spree this week. Today I visited my favourite comic book store in Zurich and guess what, I walked out with full bags once again. Next to so many series that I’ve got on my pull list, I finally got some awesome new trade paperbacks that I’m so excited about. Also I’m especially excited about Runaways by Rainbow Rowell starting and just had to get the first issue. Gotham Academy is finally back with a new series!! And the new Ms Marvel is out too, I need to catch up with the previous four though first :/

Two nights ago I spent a little time on NetGalley and instead of reading those arcs that I ALREADY HAVE what did I do? Of course, I downloaded three new ones! Why do I never learn? I was so excited to see the first book in James Dashner’s 13th Reality series being up there for grabs that I just couldn’t resist.

Oh and the best part about today’s shopping trip: I went to a bookstore in Zurich where they have this big charitiy book project running for a few days. If you donate books you can get discounts on the new ones you’re going to buy and for the very first time in YEARS !!! I bought a Hardcover book (The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue) and I finally got my Warcross copy!! So yeah, I’ve added quite some reading material this week.

The Goodies

1. Runaways #1 by Rainbow Rowell
2. Gotham Academy: Second Semester, Volume 1: Welcome Back by Brenden Fletcher
3. Superman Action Comics (Rebirth), Volume 3: The Men of Steel
4. Ms. Marvel, Volume 7: Damage Per Second

Stacking the Shelves #10: The Newest Book Depo Haul Edition

"Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual." It's a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Two weeks ago I went on Book Depository and had this huuuge urge to order books. That’s how I ended up ordering a batch of new books at 1 am on a work night. I do not regret this. And finally they all arrived this week!

The Goodies

1. The Eye Of Minds by James Dashner - I'm so excited about this book. I've been meaning to read this series for so long and doing the Down The TBR Hole meme reminded me of that.

2. A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas - two weeks ago I read ACOMAF and absolutely LOVED it. Can't wait to find out how it continues with my favourite characters of that world.

3. Cinder by Marissa Meyer - This series sounds so promising, I hope it lives up to all my friends' opinions.

4. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner - Same goes for this one!

Stacking the Shelves #9: The Comic Haul Edition

"Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual." It's a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

On Thursday I went on a "little" haul in my local comic store. I love going there because there are always so many awesome things to see, but at the same time it's really dangerous for me because it's like a spell. I cannot leave the store without buying a lot.

I'm not going to show you the singles I got, just the big Trade Paperbacks which I've already fallen in love with! And somehow I got SO MANY e-comics from NetGalley this week too. Seriously, I nearly fell of my chair when I checked my mail and saw what I had gotten in my inbox.

I also got three totally awesome books that I'd nearly given up hope on and I think I really need to stop requesting for the moment. My blog schedule is FULL with reviews that I've only started writing bits and pieces and haven't had the time to format even a little, yet :/ So let me show you what I got! :)

The Goodies

1. Batman, Volume 1: I Am Gotham by Tom King & Scott Snyder (I'm so excited about this one!)
2. Superman, Volume 1: Son Of Superman by Peter J. Tomasi (I already read this and LOVED it!)
3. Ms. Marvel, Volume 2: Generation Why by G. Willow Wilson (Hope this will be just as good as the first Vol.)
4. Scarlet Witch, Volume 2: World of Witchcraft by James Robinson (uhm... yeah I hope I'll like this better than the first one)

For Review

5. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, Vol. 1: Sinestro's Law by Robert Venditti (Hope I'll enjoy this just like the other Green Lanterns)
6. Suicide Squad, Vol. 1: The Black Vault by Rob Williams (This will be interesting I hope)
7. Superman: Action Comics, Vol. 1: Path of Doom (I'm not a big Lex fan, so I hope Superman will show him who's Boss :p)
8. Wonder Woman: Her Greatest Battles (The perfect comic to read before the film gets released this year I've heard)
9. Wonder Woman, Vol. 1: The Lies (Sounds intriguing!)

Other ARCs For Review

10. Optimists Die First by Susin Nielsen (I just finished this two days ago and it's so great! Can't wait to share my review with you guys)
11. Things I Should Have Known by Claire LaZebnik (This sounds so good!)
12. Nowhere Near You by Leah Thomas (They approved this copy for me one day before its archive date. I'm so glad I got to download it in time)

Bought

13. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (Let's hope I'll read this in less than two months, not like ACOTAR)

I'd like to know

What did you get this week? Have you also added some Comics or did you get some interesting ARCs? Or did you go on a big shopping spree in your local bookstore? :)

"Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual." It's a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

I haven't been on NetGalley very long, but I've definitely requested enough material for this month. (But still, I can't stop myself :0) This week I got some of my favourite Comics on my TBR list and I still can't believe I got approved! THANK YOU DC ENTERTAINMENT!! So without further ado, let's see what I got.

The Goodies

1. Batman: Detective Comics Comics, Volume 1 by James Tynion IV (So excited to be reading about Batman in this new take!)
2. Green Lanterns, Volume 1: Rage Planet by Sam Humphries (read and really enjoyed it! My first time reading about Green Lanterns)
3. Nightwing, Volume 1: Better Than Batman by Tim Seeley (already read this in single issues, can't wait to re-read it, one of my favourite characters)
4. Scooby Apocalypse, Volume 1 by Keith Giffen (I LOVE Scooby-Doo, can't wait to read this)

5. Millie Vanilla's Cupcake Cafe by Georgia Hill (I get hungry only thinking about this book and it's the only non-Comic in this batch - Thank you HarperCollins UK! Can't wait to read this)

I'd like to know

What are your feelings toward NetGalley? How do you request books? Are you a rather modest requester or do you request whatever you like to read? If you want to share some of your tactics with me in the comments I'd love to discuss them with you! I'd also love to hear what you added this week to your shelves! :)

Stacking The Shelves #7: The NetGalley Edition

"Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual." It's a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

This week I decided to go on NetGalley and try to get some ARCs for the very first time. Although I signed up on the site last year, I never actually requested any books and it just sort of fell under the radar. Then somehow the website appeared in my mind on Monday and I thought why not try this out?

Immediately, I got 2 Read Now copies (which you don’t have to be approved for and can read and review right away) and then I got a little bolder and requested a few more. I was really surprised when actually two of those requests got accepted and on Wednesday night I summoned all my courage. I requested a copy of But Then I Came Back by Estelle Laure which is the sequel to This Raging Light which I read this month and absolutely loved. I didn’t have too high hopes, but when I got an email Thursday afternoon saying I was approved I was freaking out of joy!

So yeah, I’m really adoring this site right now. Let’s see what I’ve put on my shelves, shall we?

The Goodies

1. DC Essential Graphic Novels 2017 (an awesome catalog listing up all major DC comics, already read and reviewed)
2. Hidden Universe Travel Guides: The Complete Marvel Cosmos by Marc Sumerak (currently reading)
3. Mer by Joelle Sellner (a graphic novel to be released this year, read and review to come)
4. The Adventures of Technicality Man by Jessica Meats (looked really interesting and was my first request)

5. But Then I Came Back by Estelle Laure (I still can't believe I actually got this copy! I can't wait to start reading)

I'd like to know

So yeah, that was my Stacking The Shelves for this week! What lovely goods did you add to your shelves? What are you planning on adding next or in the near future? Are you also on NetGalley? Do you have any NetGalley tips & tricks that might help a newbie like me? Don't forget to share with me in the comments! :)

It's been such a long time that I shared my newest aditions to my shelves with you guys! But today's finally the day, where I'll proudly present my new lovelies again. Some of the books I got from my parents from their trip to the UK (without me... they just left me at home :0) and some I bought in Rome (since I didn't go to the UK after Christmas, I decided to travel to a new place with a friend instead).

2. Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (My first read in 2017 and the review is already up on my blog, go check it out)
3. Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven (I'm so excited about this one, and my mom managed to get me a signed copy!)
